BC Place glows red for National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

December 6th, 2019

BC Place will glow red for National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women on Friday, December 6th.

It has been 30 years since the tragic mass shooting at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal (December 6, 1989) that saw the promising lives of 14 young women cut violently short. This senseless act of targeted violence shook the country and led Parliament to designate December 6th as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women.

Prominent Canadian landmarks will light up red on Friday, December 6th, at the request of YWCA partners across the country, to commemorate the day as part of the "Light the Night" campaign that remembers the women lost to violence and reminds Canadians that this reality continues for many women today.
