BC Place lights up purple for Overdose Awareness

BC Place will light up purple tonight in advance of Overdose Awareness Day on Saturday, August 31st.
Marked annually on August 31st, International Overdose Awareness Day aims to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the stigma of a drug-related death. It is also an opportunity to stimulate discussion about evidence-based overdose prevention and drug policy. Knocking down the walls of silence that keep people from talking about substance use is an important step towards addressing the overdose crisis in British Columbia. Recognizing that people who use drugs are real people helps to put a human face behind the numbers of so many preventable tragedies.
