BC Place glows red for YWCA Light the Night Against Violence

December 6th, 2018

BC Place will glow red on Thursday, December 6th, to support YWCAs across Canada as they participate in Light the Night.

Light the Night is an initiative commemorating the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. On December 6th, 1989, 13 female students and a female administrator at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal were murdered because they were women. The shocking impact of their deaths led Parliament to designate December 6th as a national day of remembrance. The day now represents a time to reflect on violence against women in our society. It is also a day for communities and individuals to speak out against all forms of violence against women and its impact on victims and their families and friends.
