CONTACT 2019 Spotlight: Local talent

Returning to BC Place for the eight consecutive year, CONTACT Winter Music Festival showcases some of the biggest names in electronic music. The 2019 lineup includes musical trio Major Lazer and GRAMMY Award-winning artist Tiesto, among many other talented acts. While the festival is a draw for international superstars, it is also an opportunity for rising stars and local artists to shine on the same stage.

Check out some of the artists with a local connection:

TAILS

Known by his stage name of Tails, Vancouver Island-native Spencer Reid is an electronic producer and songwriter. His music is described as forward-thinking and empyreal, and has caught the attention of international artists like Diplo, Louis the Child and RL Grime. Tails performs on Day 1 of CONTACT on Friday, December 27th.

NOSTALGIX

Former UBC student Negar Hamidzadeh, who goes by the stage name Nostalgix, has gone from hitting the books to dropping the bass alongside some of the world's biggest EDM artists, inlcuding Tiesto and Marshmello. She describes her musical style as diverse, encompassing genres like trap, drum and bass, dubstep and bass house. Nostalgix plays CONTACT on Friday, December 27th.

YOUNG BOMBS

Young Bombs is made up of DJ/Producer duo, Tristan Norton and Martin Kottmeier from Vancouver. The pair began in 2014 working on remixes for acts like The Chainsmokers and Galantis and started releasing original music for the first time earlier this year. Young Bombs play the CONTACT stage on Saturday, December 28th.

SIVZ

Vancouver DJ Sivz's musical collection "spans from groovy daytime lounge to the dark warehouse tech". Active both on and off the stage in Vancouver’s music community, Sivz founded a passion project in 2017 called Beatginnings to support upcoming local artists. Sivz perorms on Day 2 of CONTACT on Saturday, December 28th.
