BC Place and Centerplate team up to Tackle Hunger

October 1st, 2019

BC Place and Centerplate staff are excited to join the BC Lions in supporting the Purolator Tackle Hunger program which benefits food banks across the province. Together, BC Place and Centerplate want to raise the most donations (non-perishable food and cash value) of any stadium in the CFL!

Staff donations will be collected all this week, while fans are encouraged to bring cash or non-perishable food donations to the BC Lions game on Saturday, October 5th. The effort will benefit several food banks, including the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society, Kamloops Food Bank, Kelowna Community Food Bank Society, Langley Food Bank, Loaves & Fishes Community Food Bank, Mustard Seed, Richmond Food Bank Society, Salvation Army Community & Family Services and Surrey Food Bank.

About Purolator Tackle Hunger Program

Most Canadians are fortunate to enjoy an exceptional quality of life. However, did you know that in 2019 food banks saw an average of 1.1 million visits per month? One third of these people are children. Right here in Canada.

In 2003, Purolator employees decided to take action by creating Purolator Tackle Hunger – an initiative that’s all about people helping people. Since then, this employee-lead grassroots initiative has helped deliver more than 13 million pounds of food to families across the country.
