Lace up your running shoes! BC Place is excited to once again host Canada's largest 10km road race, the Vancouver Sun Run!

Since its beginning in 1985, the Vancouver Sun Run's primary goals have targeted the promotion of health, fitness and community. The run proudly supports both amateur and elite athletes using waved heats to suit the fitness levels of all who want to participate. In 2014, we were thrilled to assist the Vancouver Sun Run in achieving their 100% waste diversion goal, making it the "greenest" event we host at the stadium!

To get excited about the popular spring tradition coming up this weekend, here's a glimpse at the Vancouver Sun Run by the numbers!

1985 - The year the Sun Run began

10 - Distance of race in kilometers

2.5 - Distance of the mini race in kilometers

27:31 - Course record set by Joseph Kimani in 1996

3,200 - Number of participants in the first Sun Run back in 1985

45,183 - Registrants signed up for the 2014 Sun Run

Make way for the Thirsty Pigeon at BC Place!

Saturday, March 7th is set to be a big day here at BC Place!

Not only should fans be excited that the Vancouver Whitecaps FC of Major League Soccer are back at home for the 2015 season kicking-off against Toronto, but that the stadium is also introducing new food and beverage options, including the Thirsty Pigeon Beer Concessions!

BC Place will now be serving more than 20 different kinds of beer from Vancouver and around the world! The new Thirsty Pigeon Stands will showcase a range of brews from local and international breweries, including specialty beers such as Keith's single hop varietals, the fan favorite summer-sipper Shocktop, the famous Goose Island Brewery out of Chicago, and rotating brews from some of Vancouver's favorite craft breweries. We anticipate that expanding the beverage selection at BC Place will help make sure there is something fir everyone to enjoy as part of their event experiences.

The comical Thirsty Pigeon brand was inspired by the birds that occasionally join in on our events here at BC Place, a result of the building's unique retractable roof. We are excited to introduce a fun way for fans to enjoy their favorite drink of choice in BC's largest event facility!
