BC Place welcomes the 5th Annual Canucks Autism Network Sports Day!

June 1st, 2017

On Sunday,
May 21, more than 300 children and teens with autism gathered at BC Place to meet their sporting heroes from the Vancouver Canucks, BC Lions, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, and Vancouver Canadians during the 5th annual Canucks Autism Network (CAN) Sports Day.

BC Place is proud to host the annual CAN Sports Day: an opportunity for children, youth and young adults with autism to participate in a variety of sports – all under one roof! Pro athletes and volunteers from the Canucks, ‘Caps, Lions and Canadians lead the sports activities for the CAN participants. The result is an inspiring display of support, gratitude, and positive impact in the lives of young British Columbians living with autism. Special thanks to Canucks Autism Network for all the work they do in the community, and also to the Vancouver Canucks, the Vancouver Whitecaps, the BC Lions, Vancouver Canadians, BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum, TSN Radio Vancouver, and the incredible volunteers who help make this one of the most important events hosted at BC Place!

The Canucks Autism Network (CAN) provides year-round sports and recreation programs for individuals and families living with autism, while increasing awareness and providing training in communities across British Columbia. The year-round programming includes Family events, Sporting events, Overnight Camps, Music Programs, and much more.

Each program consists of a coach, support workers and volunteers, who help provide support for each individual with autism. Learn more about CAN at www.canucksautism.ca
