Orange Shirt Society Grad Event – Graduation Ceremony to Honour First B.C. Grads to Complete Indian Residential School History Curriculum

Join us at BC Place Stadium for a historic celebration of the first fully Orange Shirt Day-educated graduating class in Canada.
On April 13, 2026, communities from across the province will gather to recognize the first K–12 cohort to complete their entire education with the truths of Indian Residential Schools included throughout their curriculum.
This moment is a powerful stepping stone in our Path of Reconciliation. For over a decade, teachers, administrators, and students have embraced the responsibility to learn, teach, and share the truths of our shared history. This event will honour that commitment and inspire the next generation to carry it forward.
You can expect an unforgettable day that will include:
- Stories from Phyllis Webstad, CEO and Founding Member of the Orange Shirt Society, along with student voices from across the province.
- Reflections from leaders and dignitaries from across Canada.
- Live performances by Canadian artists.
- An Indigenous artisan marketplace showcasing handmade works.
- A career fair connecting students with employers, colleges, and universities.
