ON-SALE DATES ANNOUNCED FOR THE 2017 HSBC CANADA SEVENS VANCOUVER

VANCOUVER, BC (Friday, June 10, 2016)- The 2017 HSBC Canada Sevens Vancouver tournament will return to BC Place Stadium on March 11-12, 2017 featuring sixteen of the world’s best men’s rugby sevens teams. Tournament Passes go on sale to the Early Bird list on Tuesday September 13, 2016, followed by a general public on-sale beginning Tuesday, September 20, 2016. Fans can register for the HSBC Canada Sevens Early Bird list until September 12th at canadasevens.com. Those on the list will receive an exclusive seven-day window to purchase their tickets before the general public.
The HSBC Canada Sevens Organizing Committee also announced they will maintain the same seating configuration for the 2017 tournament for a total of 33,192 tickets per day available, which includes a limited section of upper bowl seats. In response to fan feedback, General Admission seating will remain in both the upper and lower bowls, with an increase in the number of reserved seating options. A list of full ticket inventory and pricing will be made available in August.

Last March, the inaugural HSBC Canada Sevens Vancouver played host to athletes, rugby fans and sports enthusiasts – delivering a unique two-day sport festival that showcased high performance rugby and passionate fan participation. The tournament broke records hosting the two largest rugby crowds in Canadian history, with over 60,000 fans at BC Place Stadium over the course of the two-day event. Canada men’s sevens team won 5 of 6 games to claim the Bowl title while New Zealand were crowned the tournament Cup Champions.

World Rugby recently announced the full ten-stop tour schedule of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series 2016 - 2017, with the kick off taking place in Dubai, on December 2-3, 2016. Rugby sevens will also make its debut this August at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, and the Canadian men’s sevens team will be challenging for the final Olympic qualification spot, at the Repechage tournament on June 18-19, in Monaco France.
