REVITALIZATION
MAKES ECONOMIC SENSE.

This renewal project will create a modern BC Place built on the proud foundations of the original landmark. All of this comes at a fixed cost of $458 million—around half of the cost of an entirely new multi-purpose facility, which would cost in excess of $1 billion.

Immediate operational savings

The new roof and facility upgrades will create energy savings of up to 25 per cent, or about $350,000 per year. An additional $100,000 per year will be saved on maintenance costs.

Economic impact for the province

The new roof will substantially increase the number of events the stadium can attract, on top of an already busy shcedule. That means an even bigger economic impact on British Columbia-up $40 million to an estimated $100 million every year.

Job creation

The project is expected to directly create 3500 person years of employment. After completion, ongoing employment increases for BC Place will add 100 person years annually, while the boost in events is expected to create thousands of additional, indirect jobs for British Columbians.
